You could be sitting pretty on a historic bench

February 13, 2020 BY

The Torquay bench, which is presently placed near Point Danger.

HALF a dozen unique benches, designed to commemorate the Great Ocean Road’s 100th birthday, are now available for relocation.

The six seats feature original works of art from local artists Norm Stanley, Sisca Verwoert and Karlijn Sas.

Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism (GORRT) general manager Liz Price said the seats had been well used since their installation and hoped they would continue to benefit the community.

“These seats have contributed significantly to the visitor experience.

“We want them to remain prominent and accessible to the public if possible.”

The seats are presently located at Torquay, Anglesea, Kennett River, Lorne, Wye River, and Apollo Bay.

Thy were placed on a trail with historical information available at each site through QR codes.

The seats were conceptualised by The Social Crew and designed by Supa Dupa.

In commissioning the seats, GORRT aimed to encourage visitors to slow down to fully appreciate the region.

Tender applications for the bench seats can be found at greatoceanroadtourism.org.au/gorrt-bench-relocation/.
