THE RACV Torquay Golf Club recorded a rare milestone late last year after three players made holes-in-one during the same competition on the same day.
The achievement occurred during a December 20 event, with Barry Hewitt, Eric Black and Simon Garlick each recording an ace on different holes.
Garlick holed out on the third, Black on the 12th and Hewitt on the 17th.
Club president Kathy Nauomidis said the result was unprecedented at the club.
“To my record, we’ve never had three holes-in-one on the same day,” she said.
The three players each received a trophy and a small cash prize, and their names will be added to the club’s hole-in-one honour board later this month.
Nauomidis said Hewitt’s ace on the 17th was particularly notable, as the hole is designated as a jackpot hole during Saturday competitions.
“If I had a choice of what hole to get one on, I would have it on hole 17 because on a Saturday, we have a huge jackpot,” she said. “Every member that hopes to win puts in two dollars.”
While three holes-in-one in a single round was unusual, Nauomidis said the club recorded 32 holes-in-one across 2025.
“We had a hole-in-one by two people on the same day in May,” she said.
“One of our new women members, who has a high handicap, had a hole-in-one just last week.”
Nauomidis said she hoped the trend would continue into 2026.
