TORQUAY Community House is doing its bit to help ease cost-of-living pressures by connecting locals to key resources.

The state government’s Power Saving Bonus has been among the most popular services at the neighbourhood house, with local residents dropping in for tech support or to learn more about what’s available for them

Jan Juc resident Liz Conning was at the community house earlier this week for a helping hand to get access to the bill buster.

“The application wasn’t going through on my computer at home for some reason and my son is tired of me asking him for help with computer-related tasks, so It’s great to be able to come to the community house for help with this,” she said.

Torquay Community House co-ordinator Prue Challis said the organisation was “really pleased” to provide the service to help reduce the strain of rising household costs.

“We want to make sure that no-one falls through the cracks and to help as many people as we can access the Power Saving Bonus,” she said.

“We want to help ease the pressures associated with the rapidly growing cost of living, and this scheme is one way we can do this.

“On a larger scale, we want community members to know that they can drop in or call if they do need assistance accessing services or finding out what organisations and resources are out there.”

Torquay Community House is open 9am to 2pm from Monday to Thursday.
