Council considers Anglesea SLSC clubhouse redevelopment

A REPORT has found redeveloping the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club’s clubhouse will provide a “net community benefit”, despite several complaints about the proposed building’s size and effect on coastal views.

Councillors considered the officer’s report that recommended approving the planning permit for the clubhouse at 100 Great Ocean Road at their meeting on Tuesday night.

Anglesea SLSC says its existing clubhouse is beyond repair and the new building will support its expanding Nippers program, but objectors take issue with the proposal’s height, bulk, visual impact, and the need for such a large building.
