Kardina Park trustees revealed

April 7, 2016 BY

THE remaining members of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust have been revealed.
Steve Bracks was announced in January as the chair of the trust, which will be responsible for oversight of the stadium and surrounding parklands, and the six other members were announced by Sports Minister John Eren last week.
They are: Rebecca Casson, The Pier general manager Gillian Costa, Geelong solicitor Simon Guthrie, Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander, Former Barwon Water managing director Michael Malouf, and Libby Mears.
The trust will also be charged with the task of attracting more world-class events to the city.
Mr Bracks, a former premier of Victoria, becomes the inaugural chair of the trust after leading a committee that undertook consultation with key stakeholders.
The redevelopment of Simonds Stadium will lift capacity to 36,000, and will create 90 jobs during construction, and a further 320 jobs once complete.
It includes a new grandstand to replace the old Brownlow and Jennings Stands.
Mr Bracks said the state government and the Kardinia Park Steering Committee had legislation and establish the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust.
“I am delighted to join the trust as the inaugural chair and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees, some of Geelong’s exceptional leaders, to contribute to the economic, social and liveability Mr Eren said Kardinia Park has been the home of sport and heart and soul of Geelong for many decades.
“Our upgrade and establishment of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust will give this great venue an exciting and secure future.
