BARWON Heads Golf Club is the highest ranking course across the Bellarine, according to the 2019 edition of The Golf Course Guide.

The Barwon Heads Golf Club moved up one spot overall to number 7 in the 2019 edition of The Golf Course Guide.

The Golf Course Guide claims to be Australia’s number one golf directory and lists more than 700 Australian courses, and includes an annual Top 100 ranking.

The judges noted “a significant improvement in conditioning (from number 12 to number 4 in this category) as new works settle in”.

The Golf Course Guide also ranked Thirteenth Beach Golf Links’ Beach course at number 11 and its Creek course at 35, while Curlewis was ranked 51st, Portarlington 73rd and Sands Torquay 82nd.

MEANWHILE, players in this year’s Junior Victorian Open benefited from the improved Harwon Heads course condition. The tournament began on Monday and concludes today (Thursday December 20).

Following on from the success of the $3 million Vic Open, the Junior Victorian Open is played at 13th Beach Golf Links and Barwon Heads Golf Club as a World and Australian ranked 72-hole tournament.

This year 177 of the best junior golfers from Australia and overseas (Korea, Malaysia, New Caledonia) have assembled to chase the title.

All players have completed one round on the Beach and Creek courses at 13th Beach and one round at Barwon Heads before a 54-hole cut.

Players that successfully made the cut are playing the final round at the Barwon Heads Golf Club today.

The final round is being streamed live via Facebook LIVE and the Golf Victoria website.
