Moriac PS gets accessibility funding

February 20, 2020 BY

THE state government recently announced it would give funding to Moriac Primary School for infrastructure to make the school more accessible to people with disabilities.

The money will provide ramps and toilet modifications to ensure all students and staff have the same level of access.

The funding comes from the state government’s Accessible Buildings Program.

Minister for Education James Merlino said he wanted schools to be equipped to educate all.

“The program helps to ensure all Victorian government students of all abilities can get a great education and have access to modern, functional learning spaces to give them the best chance to succeed and thrive in school and in life.”

The program also provides funding for improvements such as handrails and modifications for students with vision or hearing impairments.

South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman said the aim is to prevent accessibility from being a barrier to any students.

“We’re continuing to invest in schools to ensure students of all abilities can get a great education – no matter their circumstances.”
