Optometry retains Frank Denahy’s name

MANDY Lovett of Eye Gallery Highton has launched another optometry practice in central Geelong and retained the name of long-serving and much-loved optometrist Frank Denahy.

Mr Denahy practiced at the shop at 20 Malop Street for more than 40 years, and sadly passed away in April.

More than 40 ophthalmologists, optometrists, optical dispensers, staff, Denahy family members, local business owners and leaders gathered at Frank Denahy Eye Gallery late last month to celebrate the occasion with champagne and finger food.

Ms Lovett spoke about the importance of eye tests, eye health and keeping it affordable for everyone.

In recognition of Frank Denahy, Ms Lovett is offering free frames to clients’ who go through the Victorian Eyecare Service.

She said she was also looking forward to the next stage of the Green Spine development along Malop Street, which was about to start.

“The excitement in Malop Street is wonderful, especially now with the WorkSafe building completed, TAC and Deakin University around the corner, Bendigo Bank down the road and the NDIS over the road nearly completed.”
