Proprietor Peter Bartlett said the latest designs of computers and laptops in the Modern PC range were proving very popular with customers.

“They’re slimmer, lighter, with better battery life – it’s more suitable for everyone’s needs. People want a portable computer and to use it almost like a tablet and a computer at the same time.”

He said gaming computers were also making a comeback, with the bigger brands offering them.

“They dropped off for a while, and then they’ve been really popular again.

“I think a lot of people are going online and seeing e-sports and how popular that’s getting, and that’s driving the market a little bit, especially now a lot of the big brands – HP, Acer, Lenovo – are getting into the gaming space and supporting it, whereas previously it was all custom-built computers.”

Mr Bartlett said anyone looking to upgrade their existing computer could use Harvey Norman’s full range of software services, starting from as low as $49.

Services include setting up software services, or transferring data from an old computer or laptop to a new one.

“The good thing about that is that it is fixed cost – whether it takes us five, or 10, or 15 hours, it’s still the same low fixed cost,” he said.

“We had a MacBook recently where we spent almost two full days on it for a $99 service to make sure we got all of the customer’s data.”
