Team Geelong Running’s weekly 5km fun run has got an extra pep in its step following the launch of a new partnership with Profeet Footwear.

Starting this afternoon (Wednesday, 11 March) the Profeet team will be on hand in Ocean Grove to chat footwear and allow running enthusiasts to try on some of their new products.

The 5km fun run initiative between the operators of the Geelong Running Festival and Blackmans Brewery started in January and has been run weekly as a social outing.

More than 30 people have been turning out to events in Torquay, Ocean Grove and Grovedale at each of Blackman’s Brewery’s local venues.

Following each run, attendees are welcome to enjoy a beverage and a socialise.

Event co-organiser Lee Troop said the initiative had been a welcome addition to the weekly social calendar.

“It’s now entering its third month and it’s been fine, and a fantastic way for people to come and meet others and do some physical activity.

“We are thrilled to have Profeet on board. They’ll have some Brooks runners down there for people to try. It’s a great addition to the fun run piece.”

The runs are free and open to people of all abilities.

This afternoon’s run from Ocean Grove’s Blackmans Brewery starts at 6pm

Profeet will also be at Grovedale on Thursday, 19 March and Torquay on 25 March.
