REFUGEES will share their personal experiences of migration, culture and faith during a public information evening in Barwon Heads next week.

Bellarine for Refugees, partnered with Diversitat Geelong, is hosting the session where refugees from the Geelong region will tell the very real stories about what it was like to leave their own countries to begin a new life in Australia.

The “Hear our Stories” project aims to enable individuals to share their stories of migration, culture and faith across a broad range of settings in the Greater Geelong and Barwon region, to promote harmony and foster dialogue between people of different backgrounds.

It will be a great opportunity to gain some clarity around the complex issues faced by refugees.

“Members of Bellarine for Refugees are looking forward to hosting an important event in Barwon Heads during Refugee Week,” Victorian Senior of the Year and Chair of Bellarine for Refugees Margaret Griffiths said.

“We invite our Bellarine communities to share a cuppa and hear the personal experiences of refugees creating new lives in the Geelong region.

“What a great way to promote harmony and foster dialogue between people in our community.”

The evening will be held at Barwon Heads Bowling Club, 18 Geelong Road, Barwon Heads, on June 20 at 7.30pm.

Tea and coffee will be provided. A gold coin donation gratefully accepted.
