Rotary hold book bonanza

January 30, 2020 BY

The Torquay Scout Hall was filled with books and visitors throughout last week.

LAST week, bookworms were delighted as the Rotary Club of Torquay held their annual Book Fair.

Running from January 23-26 at the Torquay Scout Hall, the club found new homes for thousands of donated books, raising $12,000 in the process.

Long-time club member John McDonald said he was happy with how the fair went.

“We were very pleased with it, and it was a very positive outcome.

“All the books are donated, and at a dollar a book it’s a really big effort. We’re very pleased with the response we got from everybody.”

The club has not yet decided where the money will go to.

This is partly because the club has another major fundraiser around the corner, with the Torquay Rotary Motor Show to be held on the Torquay foreshore on February 9.
