GEARS will shift next month when the Surf Coast Mountain Bike Club host their annual racing fundraising extravaganza.
The Shifty Fifty in partnership with Big Hill Events will be held in Anglesea on May 10.
Riders will have the opportunity to navigate the endless flow of the Surf Coast Trail network.
The event will have three course lengths – 50km, 25km and the 10km ride which will sweep through both the bush and by the beach.
Surf Coast Mountain Bike Club president Brett Coleman said they were expecting up to 300 entries on the day.
“As a club we are super excited about the event.
“We’ve changed the course up a fraction which will be great. It’ll be more flowy riding than previous years.
“The trails are in really good nick at the moment. They are holding up really well. If they are dry they’ll be perfect, and if they are wet they will still be awesome.”

Mr Coleman said all the funds raised at the event will go back into fixing the local trails.
“We fund pretty much everything on the trails.
“Over the years, we’ve had to bring in lots of material to raise sections of the trail to help it stay dry.
“Often, we use volunteers to do pruning and minor drainage, but then we will use excavators and other third parties to do some of that bigger work.
“There’s costs there, so all finances will help us to chip away on doing the works we can.”
For the second year in a row, the race village will be set up inside the Anglesea Discovery Park.
There will be coffee vans and food inside the village for riders before and and after the event.
