Strongest lineup yet: Aireys Inlet Music Festival hits high note in 20th year
AIREYS Inlet Music Festival organiser Ed Prendergast has labelled this year’s event the strongest in its 20-year history, following a weekend that drew more than 1,100 people.

The three-day festival delivered 22 acts across the program, with consistent crowds from Friday through Sunday.
“We got plenty of feedback that it was the best lineup we’ve ever had,” Prendergast said. “It was a showstopper.”

Friday night opened with Ella Thompson and The Meanies, with the latter quickly drawing a full dancefloor.

Saturday maintained the momentum, with sets from local band De Porsal, The Pleasures, Jim Moginie – the founding member of Midnight Oil – and his band The Family Dog, and the Rumours Band.

Nick Barker & The Reptiles also impressed, before Bog Log III and The Mess Hall closed out the night.

Attendees cruised into Sunday with the sweet sounds of local groovers The Beachniks, Brooke Taylor and Fandango.

Prendergast said several acts stood out across the weekend.
“My highlights were Bob Log III, The Mess Hall and De Porsal I really enjoyed too. Our local acts too also flew the flag really well,” he said.

Strong ticket sales have already locked in the festival’s return next year.

“To get 1,100 people there at once was exceptional. It’s up there with the most we’ve ever had,” he said.

“The community aspect is the main thing for us, and we love the great vibe the Aireys Inlet Music Festival creates.”
