THE 13th annual Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup set off on Friday last week as the community raised funds for All Aboard Disability.

More than 300 patrons enjoyed the afternoon at the Geelong Racing Club, raising $10,000 to support the local charity.

Funds raised for All Aboard Disability will go towards their new project, The Junction, a ‘one-stop shop’, offering a range of services for individuals with disabilities.

All Aboard Co-founder Kate Marshall said the charity felt extremely grateful to be receiving the money.

“It’s all going towards the Junction and going into that fund to build upon, so it’s a really nice place to start.

“It can really change things, big money like that can really help.”

The event also raised the awareness of the charity within the community.

We’ve had lots of people contact us looking at volunteering, it’s been a big kickstart for us in our community,” she said.

Ms Marshall thanked everybody who came along to event and donated, as well as those who have reached out to All Aboard since.

Major raffle prizes also contributed to the day’s fundraising efforts.

“It’s always a great day on the racing calendar when bringing together so many people you know into the one room is always such a blast,” Times News Group managing director Warick Brown said.

“To contribute to All Aboard Disability Surf Coast through fundraising on the day just goes to show how Torquay people love to support local charities that need the money the most.”

The winner of the Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup was Jackand, followed by Khor in second and King Halston in third.
