SURFING Victoria has proudly announced the continuation of their popular Coasting Stand Up Paddleboarding program which will allow more women and girls to get out on the water statewide.

With funding from VicHealth, Surfing Victoria has developed the SUP for females’ program and intends to create new opportunities for females to be involved in the sport.

Coasting SUP is Victoria’s only current women’s only Stand Up Paddleboarding program and caters specifically to introducing women and girls to the practice in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

Locations confirmed for the upcoming season include Brighton, Mornington and Inverloch in the Bass Coast Shire.

During each session, qualified instructors will guide participants step by step during through the program.

By the end of the session, participants will be well on the way to developing skills to safely and competently learn how to Stand-Up Paddleboard, with maximum time on the water.

Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said the organisation was excited to continue the program and to promote more women in getting involved in aquatic activities.

“We are stoked to be continuing this awesome program of teaching SUP to Women and Girls of all ages,” Robertson said.

“The program has proven to be the perfect way to get on the water that is safe and fun.”

Stand Up Paddleboarding is a low impact, easy to learn activity that provides a fantastic opportunity to get out on the water.

The boards are much longer and wider than traditional surfboards, allowing for the unique design to provide more buoyancy for participants to effortlessly balance and propel themselves forward with the aid of a paddle.

Surfing Victoria will have both their coasting for teens and coasting for women programs up and running throughout the 2022-23 spring/summer period.
