RESIDENTS on the Surf Coast and Bellarine will now have greater access to Telstra’s 5G coverage following an expansion to its services.

Under the expansion of the 5G roll out, customers with 5G capable devices and plans can now use these services, while 4G capacity and speed will also improve as a result of the upgrades.

The expansion follows Telstra’s commitment to rollout its 5G network to 75 per cent of the population by the end of June, 2021.

Currently these services are available in 2,450 suburbs across the country with more than 60 per cent of Australia’s population now living in Telstra’s 5G footprint.

Telstra regional general manager Loretta Willaton said the recently completed expansion will deliver more coverage to Torquay, Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove.

“Expanding Telstra’s 5G network to more areas means customers with 5G devices will be able to experience faster download speeds, greater capacity during the busiest times on the network and better connectivity,” she said.

“We have nine Telstra 5G sites on air across Torquay, Connewarre, Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and Wallington.

“The upgrades will also benefit Telstra’s 4G customers with associated improvements in the underlying network boosting capacity and speeds.”
