MORE than 100 local women will dress in pink and tee off against cancer later this month for the Breast Cancer Charity Golf Day at The Sands Torquay.

The November 16 fundraiser will aim to raise upward of $10,000 for breast cancer research and program fundraising.

Proceeds from entry fees, raffle tickets and individual donations will be donated to Breast Cancer Trials (BCT), a group of world-leading breast cancer doctors and researchers based in Australia and New Zealand committed to improving cancer treatment and diagnosis.

More than 100 local women are slated to attend the breast cancer fundraising event.

The Sands sales and marketing manager Annie Glasson said the event was one not to miss.

“Linda Turner who is our lovely lady captain has been running this for many years, and each time it’s been an amazing success.

“We are thrilled to be supporting it and being proactive in getting behind such an amazing cause.

“This year, we’ve got sponsored holes, people donating prizes for the raffle and auction and plenty more.

“It’s going to be such a fun day and we really hope we can get to the $10,000 target!

“We hope to get as much money as possible back into trials so we can better support the people who are diagnosed with it.”

BCT chief operating officer of fundraising and philanthropy Julie Callaghan said the commitment of The Sands Torquay and its members was always greatly appreciated.

“We rely on the generosity of community groups to continue our research to find new and better treatments for all people affected by breast cancer.

“We are thrilled to have the support of The Sands Torquay Golf Club and I encourage the community to get behind their fundraising efforts because trials save lives.”

Ticket prices are $85 and include 18 holes of golf, a cart and a two-course buffet lunch.

$35 of the ticket will directly go to BCT.

The event begins at 8.30am for a 9am start.
