September 28, 2023 BY

The Angair Surf Coast Walk will showcase orchids and other wildflowers in the Surf Coast.

THE Victorian Seniors Festival is heading to Torquay next month, with two free events to be held in the town.

The annual festival will return bigger than ever, celebrating the valuable contribution older Victorians make to the local community throughout October.

Angair (Anglesea, Aireys Inlet Society for the Protection of Flora and Fauna) will host a guided walk among the region’s Indigenous flowers in full bloom and beauty on October 9.

Led by Angair president Sally White, attendees at the Angair Surf Coast Walk will explore the Anglesea and Aireys Inlet district to admire the amazing number of orchids and other wildflowers that grow along this stretch of the Great Ocean Road.

Attendees should meet at 10am near the beach entrance at Jarosite Road, Torquay.

To book, phone Sally White on 0466 276 039 or email [email protected]

On October 10, join the crowd at the Torquay Community Luncheon for a delicious lunch and afternoon entertainment.

To be held at the Torquay Citizens Centre from noon-2.30pm, the event is a multi-generational lunch and social event presented by Torquay Community House, Surf Coast Secondary College, Art of the Minds and Feed Me Surf Coast to celebrate Positive Ageing Month and Mental Health Week.

Free lunch and entertainment provided.

To book, email [email protected] or phone 5261 0600.

A shuttle bus will be available to transport participants to and from the venue.

This year’s theme of the Victorian Seniors Festival is “Learn, live, love”, which focuses on the importance of finding new things to learn, embracing experiences that bring joy, and having the freedom to live life the way you choose as you age.

The festival will have thousands of free and low-cost events across the state hosted by local community organisations and local councils.

Victorian Senior Card holders can also enjoy Victoria with free public transport from Sunday, October 1 to October 8.
