THE community gathered on Sunday ahead of Remembrance Day to pay tribute to all Australians who have served and fallen in service to their nation.

About 100 people attended the Remembrance Sunday service at Waurn Ponds Memorial Reserve to pay their respects and lay wreaths.

Geelong Legacy Club president John Delia gave the commemorative address.

 

Geelong RSL president Mark Lee, Waurn Ponds Memorial Reserve secretary Jeff Harriott, Reverend Peter Jewell from the Grovedale Uniting Church, Geelong Legacy Club president John Delia, who gave a commemorative address about Legacy’s work locally, and local student Skylah Helps, who read a poem, were the speakers on the day.

The service took place on the Sunday before Remembrance Day.

 

Bugler Christina Bowden played The Last Post and The Rouse, and John Jordan played the piper’s lament Flowers of the Forest.
