Construction continues to deliver at The Point

February 15, 2018 BY

The completion of the new roundabout at The Point is an exciting milestone for residents.

CONSTRUCTION at The Point in Point Lonsdale has seen a hive of activity at the start of 2018.

The next phase of construction will see the completion of works on the new roundabout at the intersection of Point Boulevard and the Bellarine Highway, as well as the ongoing development of the project’s first bridge.

Following the completion of the roundabout’s southern carriageway and its opening to the public in December, works to finalise the new piece of road infrastructure resumed in early 2018.

This work includes the installation of street lighting and the application of an initial layer of asphalt to the road surfaces.

VicRoads requires the initial layer of asphalt to “sit” for up to eight weeks prior to the application of a final spray seal.

This spray seal is scheduled to go ahead in mid-February (after holiday traffic subsides) and will be followed by line marking, prior to the full opening of the new road.

Moremac Property group director Bryce Moore said the completion of the roundabout on the Bellarine Highway would be a significant milestone for the project.

“This is an exciting time for the community at The Point as the delivery of the roundabout will offer residents a new entrance to their community,” Mr Moore said.

“While there has been some initial traffic delays associated with these works in order to ensure site safety for workers and travellers, these delays have been kept to a minimum.

“With construction progressing well throughout the development, we’re pleased to welcome new residents to the community, as purchasers move into their newly-built homes in stages six and seven.

“Construction of stage nine roads and services is also well under way.”

Construction of the first of three bridges in the project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
