ONE of Torquay’s longest-running real estate agencies has entered a new era, with Matt Kavanagh and Brent Hartigan joining Tim Carson as directors of McCartney Real Estate.
The move marks the latest evolution for the business, which has been part of the Surf Coast community for more than seven decades.
Carson will remain a key part of the business and take on a leading role in mentorship and training.

The new leadership structure, announced late last year, officially took effect on 1 July.
“We’ve formed a really strong team now,” Hartigan said.
“We’ve got some good experience and some great people around us, so we’re really looking forward to building that momentum that Tim has created.”
Kavanagh said he was proud of the agency’s history in Torquay, with several long-term clients buying and selling multiple houses over the years.

“To have been around for over 70 years and be such a massive part of the community is really special,” he said.
McCartney Real Estate was founded by George McCartney in 1952 before passing to his son, Graham. Carson later became a director alongside John McMahon and has led the agency since McMahon’s retirement.
