Decisive buyer swoops on Heads holiday home

December 9, 2022 BY

10 Campbell Street, Barwon Heads.

A farming family has beaten competing buyers to the punch for a superbly-located Barwon Heads home and agreed a deal before it was due to reach an auction.

10 Campbell Street was due to go under the hammer at the end of last month but was snapped up days before the proposed public sale.

Bellarine Property had quoted $3.75 million for the home ahead of a planned auction, and while the final fee remained undisclosed, agent Levi Turner said vendors and buyers each achieved a strong result in the final sale.

“We had a buyer that really liked it and we made the call to sell it prior to the auction,” he said.

“They’re out of town buyers, they’re farmers… [who] bought it as a long-term holiday home for their family.

“Everyone is happy. In this market, if you get a buyer on any property that’s around the right numbers, most people are happy to try and get a deal done.”

Mr Turner said the sale was indicative of recent trends for the region that had remained steady despite ongoing market pressures.

“It’s not like it was 12 months ago, but there’s still a decent volume of sales,” he said.

“If you take COVID out of it, you’d say we were in a pretty decent market

“When you look at 2019 when the banking Royal Commission affected the market, that was so much worse than this.

“When you look across Australia, Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast are very desirable – there’s still growth, industry and big businesses here.”
