TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – August 29, 2019

MONDAY our Vets/Seniors was played in cold and windy and at times rainy conditions. That did not stop 40 of our bravest golfers from playing though and scores were impressive with men’s winner Grant St Quentin shooting 28 points and for the ladies Gaye Batters 22 points. NTPs Vicki Rossiter and Grant St Quentin. Hopefully the next round on the 16^th of September will bring better weather.

Tuesday the cold and windy weather did not improve for the ladies and the going was tough for our girls, Scoring was a little low but understandable in those conditions. Lois Matthews was the best for A grade with 28 points and B grade winner Gail Rooney managed 26 points. Gill Patten took out the 9-hole competition with 12 points. Super 6 winner Red tees Jeanette Kent 13 points. NTPs Yvonne Mazylis, Rosemary Farrell, Barbara young-Harding, Gail Rooney and Joan Thomson hit the jackpot.

Wednesday David Clark won A grade scoring 39 points. B grade went to Peter Wills 37 points and C grade winner Conn Mios 35 points. Harry Knevitt took out the Resort with 35 points. NTPs Ian Foot (2). Noel Jeffery, David Clark and Joe Cengic hit the jackpot.

Friday Garry Smith was in good form scoring 42 points to win A grade. B grade went to Dan Schroter with 41 points. Andy Clark shot an Eagle on the 1^st and that was the only one for the day. Christine Wilson had 36 points to win for the ladies. Guest winner James Easton (Latrobe GC) 36 points. NTPs Warren Gaunt, Di Barker, Ronnie Beacom, Bernie Hallinan and Michael Kearney the jackpot.

Saturday the final round of the Laurie Dean Plate was held. It is a 4BBB stableford event held over two rounds. A different partner was required for each game and our winner who has been in some good form of late was Paul Walters with 91 points.  Daily winners Ben Thomas and Nathan Webber scored 46 points on c/b from Rex Hutchins and Tony Cosgrove also 46 points. Third place Brian Baranski and Darryl wedding with 45 points. Philip Smith and Bob Gough won the Resort scoring 44 points. Ronnie Beacom took out the ladies shooting 38 points and Guest winner Troy Townley (Kooringal GC) had 33 points. Lachlan Boyd scored an eagle on the 4^th and John Mahoney the 10^th. NTPs Ronnie Beacom (2), Evan Huebner, Bob Gough, Paul Walters, Andy Clark (2) and David Hutchinson hit the jackpot.

Sunday mixed competition A grade winner Joe Pannuzzo shot 38 points. B grade went to Christine Wilson with 42 points. Craig Schmidt had an eagle on the 18^th. Guest Owen Brailsford (RACV GC) had 39 points. NTPs Tom Cairnduff, Craig Willian and Joe Magliano the jackpot.
