HIGHLY touted Barwon Heads Football Club recruit Tony Armstrong will suit up for the Seagulls this week against Newcomb.

Barwon Heads coach Dan Donati confirmed the selection earlier this morning as Barwon Heads begins the first of four games in the lead up to finals.

“It’s been some time in the making, but we’re super excited to finally add Tony’s experience and talent to the side for the run home,” Donati said.

“He’s a quality human being as well as a great footballer, and the group are pumped to finally have him pull on the jumper on this week.”

Announced in late-June, Armstrong sent a stir throughout the Bellarine Football League following the club’s recruiting news, but now the former AFL footballer will get his first taste of country football since 2019.

Armstrong will assist the side in the season’s final three bouts against Geelong Amateur, Ocean Grove at Howard Harmer Oval and Portarlington.

Donati also cited the returns of key injured players including captain Mitch Herbison, Lachlan Wilson, Will Jacobs, Matt Dyer, Brock Close and youngster Charlie Brauer before the end of the season.
