From the Mat – December 20, 2018

December 20, 2018 BY

AT the end of a day that produced some very high standard of bowls, Alan Sampson and Daryl Kitchin (Torquay) won the 2018 Master’s Pairs. They finished one point in front of Ben Wilding (Bareena) and Keith Hogan (Anglesea). The event was sponsored this year by Anglesea’s Graeme Boardman and his family.

Anglesea approaches the Saturday and Midweek Pennant Christmas break in a very competitive position, following good performances by all our sides. Barb Hinton and Keith Hogan each continued their successful seasons, becoming the Club Champions for 2018.

The Great Ocean Properties Twilight Social League survived some inclement weather to provide a great local competition on Wednesday evenings – well done to final aggregate victors John’s Jokers (John Anson, Colin Watson and Trevor Taylor).

Congratulations to recent social bowls winners: Ben Coyle, Geoff Lydom, Doris Wendler, Barry Mason, John Koster, Ian Winchester, Bob Dwyer, Theo Reyntjes and Dick McDonald. The Monday Jackpot continues to rise, with the next one expected to be over $150.

The annual Bendigo Bank Triples for Triers enters its 22nd year, starting on Thursday 10 January at 6.30pm sharp, fully booked out with 32 teams. Your Village Bowl cooking dudes (Ben Coyle and Peter Austin) are providing a regular summer meals service from the club’s kitchen.
