From The Mat – May 10, 2018

May 9, 2018 BY

Anglesea has had an eventful month in its history, with the opening of a magnificent new clubhouse.

This will be of tremendous benefit to the club and community, and represents a decade of patience and persistence by the Club.

The formal opening on Friday April 27 was preceded by the 2018 AGM and a most enjoyable Presentation Dinner which recognised all the club’s champions for the season.

A big bowling agenda in April included two well attended major tournaments raising funds for local charities: Surf Coast Freemasons Charity Day and the Ron Leeman Lions Club Charity Day. Other feature events were the Anniversary Day Triples (sponsor Betty Butterworth), RSL Invitation Day (sponsor Sirovilla Anglesea Lions Village) and “Remember a Mate” Day (sponsors Lea and Beth Quail).

Congratulations to Jill Wilson, Dawn Newton and Keith Hogan who eventually triumphed in the Sovereign Financial Jackpot Monday tournament. Congratulations are also due to winners of other events during the month: Barry Mason, Dot Hermann, Dick McDonald, Ebony Gordon, Laurie Jacobs, Troy Thompson, Stuart Hedger, Dot Winchester, Con Keet, Gerard Morrison, Judith Gibson, R. Capuano, N. Buckley, Merle Wapling, Graeme Marks, Peter Austin, Heather Campbell, Noel Johns, James Murray, Bob Dwyer, Everett Greeves, Dan Black, Rob Miner, Kaye Kendall, Stephen Ross and Jim Bailey.

The marquee is gone, the new clubhouse is open, and improvements continue!
