Jan Juc lifesavers swims to victory

JAN Juc Surf Lifesaving Club has had a tremendous summer season of fantastic results in the pool, on the beach and across many competitions.

Three Jan Juc Surf Lifesaving Club members competed at the recent Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships in Adelaide as part of the State Victorian team.

The Championships were held from January 11-13 at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

All three competitors from Jan Juc swam personal best times, each receiving fantastic results.

Jasmine Happ won five medals out of the five events in the Under 14 age group and won the Under 14 female Overall point score on 86 points.

Unfortunately Jasmine just missed a national and APLSC record by .09 seconds. She placed 1st in the Line Throw, 2nd in the Manikin Tow, 3rd in the100m Obstacles, 3rd in the 100-metre Manikin Carry with fins and 3rd in the 50 Meter Manikin Carry.

Will Paatsch and Leigh Ryan won three medals in the open age group, placing 2nd in the SERC team event, 3rd in the Obstacle Relay and 3rd in the Manikin Carry Relay.

Last weekend, young Jan Juc competitors Molly Green, Henry Van Til, Jasmine Happ and Darcy McKenna were selected to compete in the Youth Pathway Cup held in Manly as part of the Victorian state team, coming away with great results.

Jan Juc’s Club Championships were held on January 20 with 41 competitors taking part across a range of divisions from Under 15s to Masters.

Friendly competition included events in the two-kilometre run, beach sprint, beach flags, swim, board, ski and ironman.

The final male and female champion results were Under 15 Sean Riley and Molly Green, Under 17 Flynn McIntosh and Kyalla Happ, Under 19 Ollie Watson and Issy Heather, Open Jay Moss, Will Paatch, Cassie Moss and Emma Blanchonette, Over 40 Tony McKenna, Carli Saw, Jodie Reyntjes, Vicki Richards and Lisa Happ, Over 50 Jeff Sweeney and Rikki Klassen and Over 70 champion was Ken Isaac.
