North Geelong, South Barwon look to continue perfect starts
NORTH Geelong will look to continue their perfect start to the GCA 1 1st XI season as they travel to take on St Joseph’s in the first week of two-day formats.
The Magpies have won their first two matches as they look to make it back-to-back premierships and now face an improved Joeys outfit at Zampatti Oval.
St Josephs made a whopping 334 runs in their first win but failed to chase down St Peters last weekend, leaving them in fourth spot with a 1-1 record.
Last season’s grand finalists Newtown & Chilwell will search for their first victory of the year when they face the Saints at Queens Park Reserve.
The Two Blues have failed to get going so far and simply must win to avoid a horror 0-3 start. Meanwhile, St Peters will take plenty of momentum into the clash following a strong effort with bat and ball in their win over St Josephs.
Lara will host Grovedale after a plucky performance against the reigning premiers last weekend, proving that they may be a force despite moving into the first division this season.
The Tigers are yet to win a game and will need to improve with the ball after allowing two large scores to start their season.
South Barwon will hope to remain undefeated when they travel to Winter Reserve to take on East Belmont. The Swans did it relatively easy in their first two victories but will be well aware that the Lions have posted two solid totals despite their 1-1 record.
In GCA 2, Leopold will host Highton, Bell Park will host Geelong West, Alexander Thomson will host Torquay and Bell Post Hill will host Geelong City.
