VICTORIA’S best longboarders will descend on Phillip Island this weekend for Round 1 of the 2024 Victorian Longboard Titles.

The two-day event will showcase more than 80 of the state’s top talent who will be aiming to score vital ranking points and a spot in the Australian Longboarding Titles in August.

A guernsey in the WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic will also be on the line for winners of the overall state title in the Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions.

Surfers slated to feature at Phillip Island include world tour competitor Ben Considine (Torquay), 2023 Open Women’s state champion Molly Powell (Anglesea), Bea Conroy (Point Lonsdale) and Australian champion Greg Brown (Torquay).

WSL world tour competitor Ben Considine will be in action this weekend.

Powell said she couldn’t wait for the event.

“Of course, I am looking forward to it and I’m hoping we have similar waves to last year.

“I’m really enjoying being back competing and making the most of that 20 min heat. As a mum, 20 minutes in the water is the new two-hour surf session. It comes by on the rare occasion.

“I’m looking forward to surfing with the amazing girls and pushing each other while having fun!”

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson said he was eager to see the state’s best in action.

“We are stoked to be bringing together the best longboarders in the state to Phillip Island this weekend.

“The 2024 series of the Longboard Titles will again also be the pathway to the WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic world tour event for two lucky Victorians.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the performances of all surfers from the Juniors all the way through to the Over 70s division.”
