TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – September 5, 2019

Tuesday our ladies played par and with -1 A grade was won by Chris Rudd. Emma Pearce shot +1 and that was the score of the day, to take out B grade. June Laidler won the Resort with -2 and our 9-hole competition winner was Mary Armstrong with sq. NTPs Deb Donht, Chris Thompson, Jeanette Langan, Tim Ratcliffe, Angela Worthy and Chris Barr hit the jackpot.

Wednesday a smaller field than usual due to the rain in the afternoon.  All the morning players got through but unfortunately only 32 players started and finished in the afternoon due to the extremely windy and wet and very cold conditions. Understandably so winners for the day started their round in the morning with A grade going to Gary Taylor 36 points and B grade Vin Cooney shot 40 points. NTPs were all also won by all the morning players: Gary Taylor, John Batters, Vin Cooney, Marty Stewart and David Clark hit the jackpot.

Friday a strong competition field headed out in the cold for our par day. A grade men’s winner Ray Liley had +4 and for B grade Lyle Dean shot an impressive +6 to win by 4.  Di Barker was the best for the ladies with -2 and guest winners Andrew Gibson (The SGA GC) +1 and Marie Goddard (Spring Valley GC) -2.  NTPs Inge Oliver (2) Rod Papworth, Ray Liley and Dean Pearce hit the jackpot.

Saturday we were finally blessed with some warm sunshine our 201 players were very happy to be out in such beautiful conditions. A grade winner Andy Clark shot 38 points. B grade went to Barry Hewitt with 39 points. Alan Tompkin took out C grade with the score of the day 42 points and D grade was won by Dale cook 36 points. Ross Bottomley had the only eagle on the 4^th. Jeanette Kent won the ladies scoring 35 points and Resort winner Ross Forbes scored 38 points. Guest Denvor Nolan had 38 points.  NTPs Deb Shoesmith, Karen Bourke, Baxter Murray, John Evans, Damian Armour and Ben Thomas hit the jackpot.

Sunday Arthur Naoumidis took out the mixed competition with 35 points. NTPs Joe Magliano, Ben Thomas and Garry Smith the jackpot.
