TORQUAY Boardriders Club put on an admirable performance at this year’s Australian Boardriders Battle in Burleigh Heads, reaching the event’s Grand Final.

Quality opposition in the Grand Final on Sunday proved too much for our local riders Tully Wylie, Adam Robertson, Todd Rosewall, Willis Droomer, and Ellie Harrison, as Burleigh Heads Boardriders Club utilised its home break to the best of its advantage to secure the win.

Torquay rode to an opening round win with a score of 32.90 to reach the Quarterfinal.

Torquay then continued its strong surfing with a score of 35.10 in the second round, just sneaking into the Semi-Final, before Wylie’s two six-point rides in the Semi-Final carried the team to a heat win with a score of 32.11.

Torquay finished the Grand Final in sixth, with Harrison pulling off one of the runs of the event, picking up an 8.40 to lift her side to a combined score of 25.24.

Tully Wylie was awarded best performer of the event.

It is the club’s second-highest finish to date.
