THE Anglesea Football Club has received an off-field boost, securing the services of a former league senior coach for its 2024 coaching panel.

Mitch Troy will hop into a senior assistant coaching role at the Roos fresh off his tenure as head coach of the Newcomb Power last season.

Troy will form a formidable coaching duo with senior playing coach Jordan Keras, and step into a similar role left vacant by Paul Nigro, who has moved into the club president role.

Prior to his tenure at Newcomb, Troy was in a development and assistant coaching capacity at South Barwon in the Geelong Football League.

Troy said he would very eager for the season to start in 2024.

“I absolutely can’t wait for i,t to be completely honest.

“After having a few months off, I just happened to bump into Jordan [Keras] and we just had a chat about 2024 and beyond.

“It’s no secret I want to be a senior coach, and this fits in well with my busy lifestyle.

“I think I can bring a bit of a level of stability off-field which can compliment Jordan while he is playing on the field and coaching.

“We’ve got a great young group who we really hope we can take to the next level, and that’s going deeper and deeper into finals.”

Nigro said the club was rapt to have someone of Troy’s ilk joining them to build success in the near future.

“We welcome Mitch to the coaching ranks and are delighted to have him on board.

“He brings with him a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge and is well connected within the region.

“We hope to build some success with Mitch by our side.”
