ON MONDAY this week, coaches and players from Western United Football Club (WUFC) visited Drysdale Football Club to run an all-day workshop for the children in the area.

More than 80 children turned out to learn from some of the best coaches in the country.

They also had the chance to meet two of WUFC’s young stars Dylan Pierias and Jerry Skotadis and learn first-hand about life as a professional footballer.

Drysdale FC technical director of football Paul Rowson said the event was a great experience for young footballers around the region and also highlighted the club’s growth.

“We have spent the last five years getting the club’s physical infrastructure in place and are now looking to build the footballing experience for all the community.

“We have seen enormous growth in our junior numbers over the last three years and the time is right to enhance the quality of coaching and this program with WUFC has been amazing.”

The feedback from the children who participated in the day was overwhelmingly positive. It was the first of eight “School’s Out” events Western United are running throughout the holiday season.

Drysdale FC has junior coaching opportunities available. Those interested can contact Rowson on 0414 461 112.
