Ultimate girls weekend ready to engulf Phoenix Park
TICKETS are selling fast for a female-only festival billed as the ultimate girls weekend, due to take place at Phoenix Park in Ballan in the middle of next month.
The second Bohemian Summer Festival will feature a wide variety of activities and entertainment, food trucks, a cocktail bar and even pajama parades.
Festival co-founder Julz Taylor (with her sister Kerri MacPherson) said the idea for the event came from herself and her sibling being young mothers having no time for themselves.
“We thought we do so much for our families, so much for everyone else, we always put ourselves last, so why don’t we create an ultimate girls weekend where we can do whatever we want to?”
She said the festival grounds will contain five areas and will include the popular crafting tent, comedy, live acts, chanting and dancing.
“There’s just so much on, no matter what you’re into,” she said.
“My sister and I are complete opposites. We really did make it whatever we (wanted), and were hoping women would relate to that.”
Ms Taylor encouraged potential festival goers to “ditch the routine and put yourself first”.
“It’s life changing,” she said. “Women find that they come and kind of remember who they are, remember that they’re important too, that they matter.
“I think that’s such a profound feeling to leave with.
“Even if it’s just for a few days, it’s still so valuable to have that time. It really seems to reset people.”
The Bohemian Summer Festival takes place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 February at Phoenix Park, Geelong-Ballan Road, Ballan.
A range of ticket options are available on the festival’s website.
