BANGALOW is approximately 24.1 square kilometres. The village’s population was 2021 in 2016.

By 2021, the population was 2752 – growth of 36.2% over five years.

Bangalow is surrounded by lush green hills and walking tracks, with swimming holes along Byron Creek.

It features buildings dating back to the late 19th century and a main street lined with well-preserved colonial architecture that contributes to its village atmosphere.

Built in 1900, the Bangalow Hotel remains a social hub and one of the few original pubs still operating in the region.

The town has developed a reputation for farm-to-table dining, with cafes and restaurants showcasing local produce.

Its popular monthly market attracts artisans, growers and visitors from across the Northern Rivers to Bangalow Showground.

The Bangalow Museum offers insight into the village’s history, with exhibits focusing on early settlers, farming and local life in the early 20th century.

Bangalow also supports a strong arts scene, with galleries, boutique retail and creative workshops.

Held each November, the Bangalow Show is one of the oldest in the region and celebrates country life through horse events, woodchopping competitions, local produce displays and fireworks.

Bangalow is also home to a well-known microbrewery, Common People Brewing Co., producing craft beer using local ingredients.

It hosts major regional events including the Bangalow Billycart Derby and the Bangalow Film Festival Located close to popular beaches and hinterland walking trails, Bangalow offers access to a range of outdoor lifestyle opportunities.
