Clean technology demonstrations hope to pave way of the future

December 3, 2020 BY

FOUR creative organisations will conduct clean technology demonstrations in our region in a bid to harness renewable energy sources and decrease emissions in the future.
Capricorn Power, Deakin University, Focus Pty Ltd and Geelong Sustainability Group Inc are working on clean technology projects that address stockpiled landfill, household energy use, community solar production and renewable energy.

The demonstration projects, which will run until October, 2021, are supported by Cleantech Innovations Geelong. The business and industry program is designed to attract investment in clean technologies and position Geelong as a clean technology centre of excellence.

Clean technologies are economically viable products which dramatically reduce the use of natural resources and utilise renewable materials and energy sources.

The demonstrations are supported by City of Greater Geelong (CoGG).

Mayor Stephanie Asher said this was an exciting opportunity and highlighted Geelong’s commitment to clean technology.

“This is an exciting opportunity to promote and support clever and creative problem-solving in our region. These four projects demonstrate the reputation for innovation, agility and design thinking that earned Geelong’s global recognition as a UNESCO City of Design,” Cr Asher said.

“The clean technology demonstration projects will investigate new ways for us to do more with less and help us achieve the goals outlined in our Sustainability Framework and Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.

“The industry networks, expertise and funding support provided by Cleantech Innovations Geelong are critical to bringing these projects to life. We look forward to watching the clean technology demonstration projects as they progress.”

Cleantech Innovations Geelong is funded by CoGG, the Victorian Government and the Geelong Manufacturing Council.

The program supports the four successful organisations with advice on a range of areas such as grant funding, investment and planning while each organisation will have access to the program’s stakeholder and supply chain networks to help bring the clean technology demonstration projects from concept to reality.
