K rock Football will be the new broadcast home of the Geelong Football League for the next two seasons.

The multi award-winning broadcaster is signing on as the official broadcast partner of the GFL and AFL Barwon in a great result for both parties and the local football community.

The coverage will be headed by highly-respected commentator Tom King and will feature the GFL match of the round on FM95.5. It was also cover all finals in 2021 and 2022.

General Manager of K rock Andy Mathers said the partnership had been in the works for a number of years while the station will continue to call every Geelong match in the AFL.

“This exciting partnership has been a long time in the making. With K rock’s continued commitment to localism, this partnership could not be more perfect. We will continue to call every Geelong Cats AFL match as we have done across 3GL/K rock since 1932. We are now adding an AFL standard call to the GFL, with the K rock Match of the Round live every week on K rock 95.5,” Mathers said.

Acting AFL Barwon RGM Georgia Hillman said it was extremely exciting to have such a call team cover its premier competition.

“We are extremely excited to partner with K rock as the official broadcast partner of the GFL. To have an AFL quality call for our premier competition is something we are extremely proud of and think our clubs will be too,” Hillman said.

K rock football will also have exclusive radio access to broadcast the Geelong Football Netball League best and fairest night.

As part of the partnership, K rock will hold the naming rights to end-of-season awards; Player MVP, GFL Coaches Team of the Year and Umpire of the Year.
