HEATHCOTE faces a massive task on Colbinabbin’s turf in Saturday’s round 5 clash in Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DFNL senior footy.
The Saints make their way to Colbinabbin’s M.J. Morgan Oval for a 2.20pm showdown.
A win-loss tally of 1-2 has the Heathcote team in seventh place.
The Saints and Grasshoppers are both on the rebound from defeat.
A Heathcote team coached by Andrew Saladino, non-playing, and Liam Jacques, playing, held a two-point lead at three-quarter-time of last Saturday’s clash with Lockington Bamawm United at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve.
The Jayden Howe-coached LBU Cats won the last, 28-10, on the way to a 99-83 victory.
Not far away from Heathcote it was Colbinabbin up against Mount Pleasant at Toolleen.
The Linton Jacobs-coached Colbinabbin was overrun in the final term.
The Grasshoppers were up 73-59 at the last change, but the Blues slammed on six goals in the last quarter to record a 99-81 victory.
Midfield and on-ball duels will be crucial to the hopes of the Saints claiming a win at Colbinabbin.
Heathcote will look to Stef Rasinac, Rhys Bolton, Will Tobin, Joey Beedle, Sean Williams and Codie Price to set up a lot of attacks.
It will be a huge test for the Saints’ defence against Colbinabbin forwards Brandyn Grenfell, Jai Carn and Alex Carr.
After a breakthrough victory, Elmore will be back home to take on the unbeaten Mount Pleasant.
The Luke Freeman-coached Elmore responded to a third-quarter fightback by White Hills to beat the Demons in their Scott Street den by two goals.
In-form players for the Bloods include Lachie Gawel, Matt Gilmour, Lachie Munro, Mychael Baker and Asthon Sinn.
Mount Pleasant has made an impressive start to its quest for back-to-back premierships.
Brodie Montague, co-coach Josh Hann, Xavier Carter and Deklan Wille were best in the Blues’ win against Colbinabbin.
Mount Pleasant has Cam Carter as non-playing co-coach.
After a week’s rest, North Bendigo will be back in action at Bendigo Club Oval in Atkins Street against White Hills.
Lockington Bamawm United faces Leitchville Gunbower at Lockington’s Nichol Trading Oval.
Harlowe Huntly Hawks have the bye.
