LEADER in the division two race, Heathcote makes its way to White Hills for Saturday’s match in Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant.
The Saints and Demons will clash from 1.30pm as bowlers roll into the halfway mark of the season.
In division six, Heathcote is on home greens against North Bendigo for the round eight contest.
It’s a big test for the sixth-placed Saints against the second-placed Bulldogs.
Pennant resumes after last Saturday’s break as the district hosted rounds of the Victorian Open for 60-and-over.
In midweek pennant, Heathcote will contest Monday’s ninth round showdown at Eaglehawk from 10am.
Heathcote was on home turf against North Bendigo for last Monday’s round.
Although it was beaten 68-48, Heathcote is just a win outside the four.
Dave Thomas 18 lt J. Hasty 23, Chris Morcom 14 lt J. Emerson 19, Lorraine Speirs 16 lt S.Bryan 26.
The Thomas-led rink was up by five shots after eight ends, but could not halt Hasty’s charge to victory as the Bulldogs won six ends in a row and the last three of the match.
Morcom’s rink won two of the opening three ends but was beaten on five of the next six ends.
By the ninth end the visitors held a seven-shot buffer.
And despite winning the last three ends, the Saints were beaten by five shots.
Lorraine Speirs won three of the first four ends to lead by four by the 11th end.
The Bulldogs won the next six ends and claimed a five-shot victory on the 20th end to win by 10.
A field of 18 played three games of pairs and triples on 19 November at Heathcote Bowling Club.
Winners were Eileen O’Brien (s) and John Hepburn, three wins, 49 points, +30 shots.
Runners-up were Richard Edwards (s) and Chris Cail on two wins, 34 points, +8 shots.
Next best were Rod Hanson (s) and Cheryl Flower on two wins, 32 points, +21 shots.
The jackpot was not won.
A lack of entries meant the Invitation Fours Tournament, women to skip, planned for 27 November was cancelled.
Tuesday Night social bowls starts at 7pm.
