Library officers Erin Jones (left), Bek Coates and Ebony Ballintyne look forward to welcoming families for a night of fun, creativity and connection during National Families Week.

MOUNT Gambier Library will open after hours to host a special Family Night celebrating National Families Week on Thursday, May 14, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The free, drop–in event will showcase the library as a welcoming community space, with activities designed to bring families together through play, creativity and connection. Families can enjoy games, LEGO, Minecraft, playgroup activities, a Bunnings activity table, balloon animals and glitter tattoos, with catering also provided. Families will also receive take home packs to continue the fun and connection at home.

Team leader children’s and youth services Erin Jones said the event celebrates the diversity and importance of families in the community.

“Family Night at the library is about creating a welcoming, inclusive space where families can relax, have fun and make positive memories together,” Mrs Jones said.

“Libraries are places for learning, but they’re also places for connection. Events like this help strengthen relationships and remind families that the library is a space designed for them.”

Families are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy all activities. For more information, follow Mount Gambier Library on social media or call 8721 2540.

The event is supported by the OneFortyOne Community Grants Program.
