South indians v Tigers

Only one game in Division One baseball at the weekend just gone as there was a wedding within the Central fraternity and that game between the two black & white teams will be played at a later date with the celeb taking precedence.

In the late game at Blue Lake Sports Park Tigers fronted against South Indians.

Tigers were away to a very good start scoring three. Lead off batter Riley Parsons singled to centerfield and was batted in by Cameron Scott who hit into an error.

Matt Thompson then hit safely to rightfield followed by Dyllan Lane who’s shot to centerfield scored Scott.

Thompson crossed the home plate on Jake England’s sacrifice fly to leftfield.

South returned fire in the bottom of the inning with three of their own.

Jett Lewis on board when his hit to third base resulted in a wild throw.

Ryan Placucci singled as did Travis Lockwood whose hit scored Lewis, Ben Nash slapped the ball out to centerfield which scored Placucci and Deegan Habner’s safe hit to leftfield saw Lockwood home.

Tigers replied with two more in the top of the second.

Pat Kermond drew a base on ball as did Riley Parsons.

A huge safe hit to deep centerfield from Matt Thompson scored both giving the orange and black a five to three advantage.

The Indians retuned to the batter’s box with Ryan Whitwell drawing a walk and Jett Lewis’ two bagger to leftfield scoring him.

South added two more in the third and one in the fourth whilst holding the Tigers scoreless, a two-run buffer to the Red and White.

Tigers were unable to add to their score in the fifth while South upped the anti, scoring ten with fifteen batters going through the box.

Wade Chant walked, Brett Masterman was hit by the pitcher, Chant crossed on Ryan Whitwell’s hit into an error then the advantage turned in Tigers favour when they turned a double play.

The Indians weren’t going to be denied as they kept punching the ball into play.

Masterman crossed on a wild pitch, Ryan Placucci singled as did Linkon Ratcliffe and Travis Lockwood picked a walk loading the bases.

Ben Nash also walked forcing Placucci home, Blake McAdam’s safety scored Ratcliffe, Wade Chant picked his second consecutive base on ball which pushed Lockwood across the plate and Brett Masterman was hit by the pitcher for the second consecutive time which scored Nash.

Ryan Whitwell clouted a pitch to rightfield which batted in Chant and Jett Lewis’ long ball to centerfield saw both Masterman and Whitwell home before the side was finally all out.

The mercy rule was applied giving the Indians an emphatic win seventeen runs to five. South Indians had 16 safe hits, 6 base on ball, 4 hit batters, 15 runs batted in and made 3 errors. Tigers had 8 safe hits, 6 base on ball, 5 runs batted in, 8 strike outs and made 3 errors.
