IT was almost a perfect winter’s day on July 15 for a round of golf, with no rain or wind at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the 3rd round of the Short Course Trophy played in stroke format, sponsored by Grant and Dianne Perryman.

With one more round to go, it is a race to score at least another good round for some to be in the running to get that name on the trophy.

The winner in Division One was Helen Stratford playing off a reduced handicap of 12 signing for nett 64.

Stratford was able to capitalise on several pars on 1st and 7th in her outward 40 strokes and on 11th, 13, 14, 15 and 16th in her inward 36 strokes.

Runner up was Karen Panagopoulos nett 69 also scoring consistently off her 10 handicap with pars on 2nd and 4th in her outward 44 strokes and on 10th, 11, 12, 13, 14, and a fine birdie on the 18th in her 35 strokes coming home.

Third placegetter was Helen Myers nett 69 after a countback with Panagopoulos. Myers also scored well with splits of 40/37 that Included pars on 6, 8, 13, 17 and 18th holes.

Evergreen Trudy Herbert nett 63 was the winner in Division Two playing off a 22 handicap, having the score of the day, after using her handicap to perfection and finishing two under the 65 rating after splits of 40/45 that Included pars on 4, 6 and 13th holes.

A very excited Deb Reid, new to competition golf this year, took the runner up voucher signing for nett 68 off her 38 handicap after her outward 49 was three strokes under her handicap but unfortunately was six over on the inward nine, still well done.

Third placegetter was Dianne Allen nett 69 also signing for a consistent score after two nines of 49 strokes each off her 29 handicap.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 2nd winners were Panagopoulos (.91cms) and Allen (1.54). Pro-shot winner on the 5th was Sue Agars (3.98). Chip-in ferrets were recorded by Vivienne Wilson 1st, Herbert 6th and Kristy Janeway 16th.JULY 11 RESULTS

For most it was a ‘wash-out’ except for several of the early starters getting the better part of the day before the heaven’s opened up mid morning and making most putting greens go under water as well as a waterlogged course.

Runner up was Kate Brown 117/37/80 with a par on the dog-leg 15th included in her splits of 60/57.

Next was Judy Hunter 124/43/81 countback Kate Hommelhoff 81 countback Ronda Edwards.
