Lorne surf boats have big day at state titles

THE Lorne Surf Life Saving Club had a successful day at their home waves at the Victorian Surf Rowers League state titles earlier this month, winning three of the four events they entered.

Lorne Unilornes, coached by Marty Guerow, swept by Geoff Matthews and including Jenny Blue Collins, Georgina Box, Joukje Siebenga, Marty Guerow and Shea Grant, won the Reserve Females race ahead of Lorne Atics and Williamstown Screamers.

Lorne Dry – Jamie Robertson, Jack Ryan, George Ellis, Harley Beaumont and also swept by Geoff Matthews – won Reserve Males ahead of Port Fairy Shearwater and ort Campbell Beach Energy.

First in the Open Female was Lorne Edge, swept by Geoff Matthews. The crew comprises (from the bow) Chantal Guziak, Megan Grierson, Peter Glaister and Michelle Yann in the stroke seat. Torquay Lightning was second and Portsea Eels was third.

Lorne’s Open Men’s crew, the Lorne 31s, came second to St Kilda Angry Otters but ahead of Torquay Pirates.
