Metricon tops HIA’s housing 100

October 1, 2020 BY

Metricon’s Botanica 32 design is just one of the many homes proving popular in their 4,534 starts during the 19/20 year.

Metricon has been named Australia’s number one home builder for the fifth year in a row with the release of the HIA Colorbond Steel Housing Top 100 Report.

The 2019/20 HIA-Colorbond Steel Housing 100 report, which ranks Australia’s top 100 residential builders based on the number of home builds commenced each year, saw Metricon topped the list with a total of 4,534 starts, across Victoria, Queensland, NSW and South Australia with 1,000 of those new home builds commenced in 19/20 being in Regional Victoria.

Metricon CEO Mario Biasin said that when the coronavirus pandemic arrived in Australia back in March, he was not only concerned about their ability to keep building homes at the volumes they have become renowned for, but frankly due to the expected restrictions, to continue building at all.

“Fortunately, residential construction has remained an essential service, and we’ve been able to finish the year in a strong position which is a testament to the strength of our brand and the dedication of our team.” Mr Biasin explained.

“Our customers have and always will be our top priority, and it is a privilege that Australian home buyers continue to trust us with the most important purchase of their lives, even during a global pandemic.

Metricon CEO Mario Biasin says that their customers have and always will be their top priority, and that it is a privilege that Australian home buyers continue to trust them with the most important purchase of their lives.

“It’s what drives us to continually improve design, construction and customer care.”

Despite the cooling market, the 28th annual HIA–Colorbond Steel Housing 100 Report 2019/20 survey shows that the number of new home starts by the nation’s largest 100 builders increased from 67,694 to 69,459.

Mr Biasin said that they are fortunate as an industry that they have been able to work with Government to ensure home building has continued in a sensible and managed way.

“The Federal Government also heard our collective industry voice requesting stimulus and there’s no doubt that the New Home Builder Grant program is keeping the Australian dream of homeownership alive and countless individuals in work as we ride out this pandemic.

“We’re committed to building homes to suit evolving customer needs and budgets and believe the diversity of our designs and price-points means we’ve been able to maintain relevance for customers.

“Across our brands, we really do have a home for every Australian family.

“Although 2019/20 was a year none of us will forget in a hurry, it’s Metricon’s belief that there is still strong demand for quality home builds Australia-wide and we’re confident that our business model, coupled with our commitment to innovation and customer service, will enable our continued leadership,” Mr Biasin concluded.
