CENTRAL Geelong’s tallest apartment building, Miramar, lit up a picturesque skyline as a crowd of people attended the tower’s Lighting of the Candle ceremony.

Local developer Morphy-Birrell Property Group and national developer Morris Property Group proudly announced the completion of Miramar, Geelong’s tallest tower, last week.

The project comprises 112 apartments over 21 storeys and two retail tenancies on ground level.

Concept design started in October 2015, with developers lodging a planning permit in June 2016, following several presentations to the Victorian Design Review Panel.

Colin Watson, James Morphy, Marcus Birrell, Dale Whitford, Andre Veronie and Geordie Edwards.

“Being a major project for Geelong, it took 10 months to gain planning approval and we launched to the market in April 2017,” a spokesperson said.

“Following a successful sales campaign construction commenced in January 2018 and the project sold out in February 2019.”

Four years from project inception, Miramar sits as a landmark on the Geelong skyline. The architectural design of the façade mimics the sails of the boats strewn along the Geelong waterfront.

A Lighting of the Candle ceremony was held on March 11 to mark the completion of the tower. Residents are expected to settle and move into the tower in the coming weeks.
