Torquay Community House celebrates with free workshops

May 8, 2019 BY

TO CELEBRATE Neighbourhood House Week, Torquay Community House will hold two free workshops next week.

“Women’s Financial Education – My Budget” and “The Value and Importance of Friends” will both be run on May 15.

Neighbourhood House Week – marked this year from May 6-12 – is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the role of community, neighbourhood, resource and learning centres in the community.

While Torquay Community House does great work year-round, Neighbourhood House Week provides a real opportunity for them to showcase their work and extend their reach to those in the community who may not yet be aware of what their local centre has to offer.

This year’s theme is “Bringing People Together: from your neighbourhood to your nation”.

Faciltated by Jan Cheatley, “The Value and Importance of Friendship” workshop from 10.30am will celebrate this theme by sharing how to make, maintain and nurture friends and the social connections which are vital to life expectancy and our health.

In the “Women’s Financial Education – My Budget” workshop led by Kirby Smith from Women’s Financial Education, which runs from 1-3pm, you will create a budget and banking structure you can manage.

Torquay Community House will also have a roving tea trolley and all their regular activities going on during Neighbourhood House Week so whether you’re an old friend of the house or new to the area, it’s the perfect time to visit your Community House.

Spaces in both workshops are limited so bookings
are essential.

Bookings can be made through
