Bring your travel inspiration into your home

Wanderlust is boho with a touch of luxury - instead of the beach-shack feel that so many of us are familiar with when we think of boho, this look has a worldly, well-travelled, higher-end aesthetic.

Our homes are so personal. When choosing or building a home we have so many options to stamp it as our own, from façade to floorplan and fixtures and finishes. But, why stop there?

Let your interiors also reflect your personality and life experiences, with the help of Wanderlust, Metricon’s newest Lookbook theme.

Inspired by travels to far-flung corners of the earth, Wanderlust centres around showcasing the unique pieces you’ve collected from your global wanderings.

“This style lends itself to the personality of the home owner and the places they’ve loved visiting,” says Jacinta Evans, Senior Interior Designer at Metricon.

“Wanderlust is boho with a touch of luxury – instead of the beach-shack feel that so many of us are familiar with when we think of boho, this look has a worldly, well-travelled, higherend aesthetic. It’s warm, cosy and elegant, but not so elegant that you don’t want to sit on the sofa for fear of messing it up!”

How to recreate the Wanderlust look in your home When styling, the simplest way to display your individual feature pieces and achieve a consistent look throughout the home is through colour. Opt for a monochromatic colour palette, weaving in touches of gold and marble, and choose earthy colour accents, such as olive greens and terracotta.

Don’t be afraid to add splashes of texture, such as leather, fringing and beading.

“As this look primarily centres around pieces you already have it’s cost-effective and easy to replicate, creating an elegant interior that truly reflects your individuality,” Ms Evans said.

What typifies the Wanderlust theme?
• Travel mementos, such as carved or wooden animals or rustic jewellery pieces, black and white framed travel photos
• Gold and marble touches
• A variety of textures: fringing, tassels, leather, beading and macramé
• Tribal motifs
• A monochromatic palette complemented with earthy colours – avoid strong primary colours
• Indoor plants
• Timbers with grey undertones.
