AUSTRALIAN Plants Society Heathcote Inc held a very successful Flower Show and Plant Sale last weekend.

It was the society’s third annual show.

Judy Lovick fell in love with a rooster made by Renae McKeeven of McKwey Park Art, from recycled horseshoes.

Despite dry conditions over the past months, visitors embraced the native plants and their ability to survive in harsh conditions.

“Our Flower Show and Plant Sale was a huge success,” said secretary Tania Biagioni.

Maree Hingston had a difficult time choosing between the wide range of native plants on offer.

“As well as a magnificent range of native plants we had art and photographs on display and stalls including horseshoe art, fairy floss, Heathcote Writers’ Playgroup, and woodwork.

“We are very grateful to all the sponsors, stall holders, visitors and especially the volunteers who all helped make the day such an incredible success.

Oakleigh, with mum Rhyannon, couldn’t resist fairy floss on a stick.

“We are already looking forward to next year’s show.

“All proceeds raised will go towards the Heathcote Native Gardens Project.”

Retired engineer Ron Miles, with daughter Jackie Matthews, has been working with wood all his life and made most of the furniture in his home.
