Electric tour takes the stage

THE electric and iconic Pseudo Echo are coming to Bendigo later this year to celebrate the release of their new double album.

The Ultimate tour celebrates the bands 40-year music career led by the bands founder, Brian Canham.

In features a two-hour set including the hits Funky Town, Listening, A Beat For You, Don’t Go, Living In A Dream and Love an Adventure.

“It’s sort of a journey through the years,” said Canham.

The 80s saw the group introduce the electro sound of a keyboard into rock, were the first unrecorded band to appear on Countdown, and had top 10 hit on in international charts.

“When I started experimenting in my teens the biggest competition was that there were so many bands, there was one on every corner,” said Canham.

“I could hear a difference between the music I heard on the radio and the music I heard on street corners, and that was keyboards.

“I got so obsessed with electronic music after that and I knew that was what I wanted to do.”

In 2021, they released the 1990 The Lost Album Demos recording, which included songs Canham wrote in 1989 but disappeared until 2019.

The pandemic gave him a chance to reflect on what to do with the rediscovered tracks.

“During the last few years, we had a lot of time to think about things and I discovered some music that had been lost,” said Canham.

“I found this lost album just prior to the pandemic and then because we had so much down time, I started to think about what we should do with it.

“Raquel my wife was adamant to release it as it is because it’s so significant to the time period so even though they were demos we decided to bundle them together as an album.”

Canham said he is looking forward to taking to the stage in front of a regional audience.

“It’s good to get out there again and play, we don’t often get out to the regions and when we can it’s great for us,” he said.

“It’s exciting for us to have an audience that most likely hasn’t seen the band for a long time.”
